A couple of questions:
Does this happen in any particular area of the game (you mentioned firepits, so I'm assuming at least Ring of Fire area)?
What kind of sound card do you have?
What quality level is Sound set to in the Options control panel?
To answer your question, I don't hear this myself, sorry.
Just a wild guess - I know some cards (like Creative's) allow you to set global reverb levels. Do you have anything like that enabled?

2) What kind of sound card do you have?

4) To answer your question, I don't hear this myself, sorry.

I had a problem with GW sound crackling after the last update.
The problem I had was when I had installed my Soundblaster Live 5.1 card I forgot to turn the onboard sound on my mother board off.
Check your motherboard manual to see If you have onboard sound, and how you can turn it off.
You may have to uninstall the reinstall you card drivers after (I am not sure)
Then I would suggest you adjust your paging file. How you do this is by going to START - RIGHT click on My Computer - Properties - Advanced TAB - Performance SETTINGS - Advanced TAB - Virtual memory CHANGE - Custom size - Set Initial size to 0 and the Maximum size to 0 - SET - OK - OK - OK. Restart your system and the defrag the hard drive. Then RIGHT click on My computer - Properties - Advanced Tab - Performance Settings - Advanced TAB - Virtual memory CHANGE - Custom size - Set Initial size to 1024 and the Maximum size to 2048 - SET - OK - OK - OK. Then reboot the system.
Since doing these 2 things I have had very little lag and no sound issues at all
Hope that helps

Make sure you have up to date driver you can check automatically here - http://www.creative.com/language.asp...wnloads/su.asp
Grab Direct X 9c April Version here - http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...displaylang=en
Give these a try but I do suspect it is a bug with the new patch but the above should help things (or worst, won't hurt you).
Sound static (espcialy on sound blaster / audigy cards) could be interference from the analog audio cable from the cd-rom/dvd-drive to the connector on the sound card too. I have my on-board sound turned on due to a bug between Audigy cards and Ati Tv Tuner and the line-in causing out of synch / echo effect. Only way it works is I run the tv tuner input through the on-board sound. I did mange to get both sound cards to co-exist nicely.

Hmm good to know, if I ever start using an ATITV tuner.
1 thing I did forget to say about the sound, was make sure that you only have 1 set of soundcard drivers in your device manager. (right click My Computer/properties/hardware/device manger/
If you see onboard sound or any other sound card devices. Turn off onboard sound 1st, then after a reboot with onboard off uninstall all sound drivers, re install the sound drivers you want to use.
http://us.creative.com/support/downloads/
Go to > SoundBlaster > Live > Live > on the next page change file type to driver and update your current audio driver with the patch or patches you find there.

I still get weird sound glitches, usually with fixed sound sources (the fountain in Lion's Arch is the same volume no matter how far away I am from it, for example), but I've gotten to the point where I just have to accept that it'll never be as good as it was. Sigh...

This issue happens for everyone I know with an audigy, and did so in the preview event, the fact its still not fixed is dodgy to say the least.
And yes, the interupt sound, the audios quality slowly getting worse,r everb and such building till it crashes totaly and just outputs static which requires a restart to 'fix'.

Exactly, I keep hearing interrupt sounds from all over the place. It's extremly confusing.... Also too loud environment sounds in outposts - fires, yaks...
Happend after the recent updates.

Until they get the environmental sounds fixed, you can turn those down a bit with the volume controls.

So this may be Audigy-specific? Hmm, I'd hate to buy a new sound card, but this is driving me crazy.

this happens to me a LOT in game - and when I am on TS it makes me and everyone talking sound like the voice of GOD it's weird! We tried updating my sound card and changing settings and such.... It's random tho, sometimes it happens and wont stop for like 30mins and other times it's so brief or like a flickering light -_- It happens at random TS or no *shrugs*
all the clicks and fires and stuff - its like being in a tunnel with everything echoing and all NORMAL sound seems distant but distinct like its way down the tunnel echoing off the walls ya know? Does that make sense? >_>

This problem is not Audigy specific. I checked it with my 2 guildies, one has a regular PC with on-board sound, the other one has a notebook (obviously on-board sound as well). Both heard interrupts from miles away.

I do not have an audigy sound card and I have the same problem with hearing the interrupt sound all the time. Video quality (ie frame rate) has also been lower for me in most areas also since Factions was realeased.
